Sell Me On Prowl/Jazz

Prowl/Jazz is one of those pairings I've just never "gotten". It fails to click with me. But I keep seeing people writing it, writers I respect to total strangers. Obviously there's some sort of draw there.

So, sell me on Prowl/Jazz. Show me the really good fics that got you into the pairing. Show me the fics that make the pairing work. Show me the good stuff.

Not a Prowl/Jazz fan, either? Show me the good stuff with Prowl or Jazz that you might know of.

Honestly, Prowl/Jazz is not one of my favourite pairings. I find that oftentimes one or both of the characters has been written OOC to accomodate the pairing. I tend to prefer to see them as friends, foils to each other's personalities, if you will. I don't read a whole lot of fics involving those two as a couple, but I can suggest three authors you might want to check out to see if they can change your mind.

[info]nightwind69 (the founder of the pairing) writes them fantastically. Both characters remain in character and you can totally see why they're together.

[info]_wilderness_ and [info]lstarrunner also write the pairing very well.

Start with those three and then see what you think of our two black-and-whites as a couple :)

Oh wow... I've been rec'd!

How cool is that...

If you so desire, the stories can be found on ff.net at http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1344452/Ilyusha or on my Fiction LJ at http://wildernesstales.livejournal.com/profile

To me,Prowl and Jazz have always been friends(some people on my f-list have begged to differ, but that's them).I personally prefer for them to be BFFs.

I'm not so good on recc'ing fics (I never trust my own tastes to be actually, well, good), but I can understand why I like the pairing, even while I admit it to be completely non-canonical.

Mathematically, it works. They're opposites, and as the Paula Abdul song proclaimed, opposites attract. There's a built-in tension between quiet, logical Prowl and social, intuitive Jazz. The higher the tension, the higher the stakes, and the greater the resolution. They can be great friends or fantastic lovers according to the writer's preference, but the very difference in their personalities is what can make a story featuring the two of them sparkle.

...Great. I just gave myself a plotbunny about Prowl as Mr. Darcy and Jazz as Elizabeth Bennett. I think I'm just going to ignore that one....

I'll admit, at first, I wasn't really a fan of the pairing, but then I came across Hymne a l'Amore. That was the first P/J fic to catch my attention. What really got me into the pairing was [info]vejiraziel's work, which you can find at [info]martinicruiser.

And for some shameless self-advertisement, I've been told that my story, Sunrise is good. Though I will blush and sputter stupidly if someone tells me in anyway besides a review.

OK, if she won't pimp her own stories, I will. I got into ProwlxJazz because of [info]sakon76's story Harder Better Faster Stronger. That led me to the comm [info]prowlxjazz, which led me to [info]vejiraziel and [info]vericus, and I blame [info]purajo for solidifying the attraction, and Jo led me to Nightwind (mentioned above).
Links? Ack! OK, Sakon's HBFS, Nightwind's PJ Thing, Vericus' Voice in the Dark, Vericus' Xmas challenge Hope, Sakon's Arguments and Apologies, Veji's Falling in Love, Jo's Not All Gone. [info]xaefryl gave you the link to her story, it's good, and [info]sbx also rocks at this pairing, she's on prowlxjazz.
How's that?
I echo [info]sakon76's reasoning. Jazz and Prowl are opposites and they work for that reason. Jazz is impulsive, able to roll with the punches, fun-loving. Prowl is a tactician, his battle computer crashes and he's screwed, he follows the rules. And yet, they can click, especially in the hands of a very good author.

Hope, out of the four christmas ones? O.o Odd choice.

Oddly enough, what got me into Prowl/Jazz wasn't a slash fic. It wasn't even a friendship fic. In fact, Prowl and Jazz have barely any interaction in it...but something about Blue 42 made the pair stick in my head, and I started stalking them. It eventually led me to PuraJazzBot's stuff, which was I think where the pairing snagged me for good...

My all-time favourites have to be Chameleon, best friendship fic EVER, and Distraction, though.

Those are my suggestions, at any rate...

Blue 42 made me laugh until I cried. ... that is really all I have to say. ^_^

I am also not sold on Jazz/Prowl - I thought they seemed cute when I first got into the fandom, but they fall into the trap (for me) of being almost always written as an established pairing, whereas I read for pairings being established.

Also, 90% of people who write Jazz give him an accent closer to Hagrid's than his own, which makes me cringe. ^_^;;

Jazz's accent is almost IMPOSSIBLE to write correctly. I'm on the verge of just going to hell with it and not writing it, myself.

I know what you mean about reading for the establishing of pairings, and not the established ones. I'm the same way, especially when first getting into a pairing. I want to see how it all began, and then once I've read about a dozen or so of those fics, I'll branch out into the 'established relationship' fics. Which makes it kinda ironic that my first P/J fic was an established relationship one...but I made up for it later, heh. I'll dig around a bit and see if I can dig out some of the better 'first time' fics for you if ya want...

OK, I'm odd. I liked Hope the best because of the glitter...and the glue...also, Sunstreaker!
Naw, actually it was because it had the best, sneakiest back story for Jazz and for Prowl, the ruiner of a reputation and the robber of a cradle. For some reason, that resonated with me. I love it.
Thanks for the other recs, though! I'm off to read...

Heh. That's funny, cuz the scene with the minibots and Sunstreaker was the entire reason that fic got written in the first place...my muse refused to give me anything but that, so I eventually ran with it.

And if you loved Prowl and Jazz's backstories in that, you'll love the fic I'm writing now...

Strangely enough what got me interested were the Jazz/Prowl fic's in Love is a battlefield (Their not all Jazz prowl but a fair amount are), in which their relationship isn't all that good (to put it mildly).
Forever yours is the first p/j in there
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2577500/9/Love_is_a_battlefield rated T

It's still the most memorable Jazz/Prowl I've read.

Hey, did you ever read any of these stories and begin to see the attraction? Because I just ran across a very different P/J story that might, actually, be more of what you want. It's called TF Virus and I thought it was different and fun enough to come back and tell you about it.

Hey
I admit, I'm a Prowl/Jazz fangirl. What really started me with it was "Chameleon" By 'Purple Aussie'. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2793472/1/Chameleon

More of a friendship/precouple fic but check out her other work too!
